Latest needle felting news

I haven’t blogged the needle felting pictures for quite a while as some of it has been top secret for Christmas pressies etc. But now I can finally show you what these extremely talented ladies have been up to for the last couple of months. We have been making character dolls. I got quite emotional on our last class before Christmas as they have all done so well and I am so proud of them. Some of them still needed a few finishing touches so I took the final pics at our first class back on Thursday. Prepare to be amazed.

Here are a few more pics of the making of them.

Take a close look at Kelly’s man. He is anatomically correct. We did have some laughs……………..

But it wasn’t just character dolls that were being made at the classes. Emma made a fantastic tortoise. The photo really doesn’t do it justice. It is so good. And Mandy finished her pony which I’m sure you will agree looks very good.

So that’s what we have been busy with. What do you think??

Latest news

Well, Hugglets was a big success as usual. Well done to Glenn and Irene. The organisation was fantastic and everyone had a lovely day. I had my two best friends Maureen and Anita with me for the day, Anita helping behind the stand and Maureen busy taking lots of photos. Thanks, you two, you were both a great support.  It was so nice to meet new collectors and have a chat. Some of my bears, hedgehogs and elephants found new homes and I met the lovely Sally Thomas who is opening a brand new bear shop in Kettering in November and she asked me about selling some of my bears and elephants in her shop. So a few of my creations are now excitedly waiting with her for the grand opening. Good luck Sally….

Needle felting project

I don’t know if I ever introduced you to George. George needle felted character dollHe was my first needle felted character doll. Some of the ladies at my felting class expressed an interest in making their own character dolls. And so a few weeks ago we made a start. The heads are nearly done so I thought it might be quite nice to show how they are getting on so far. They have certainly all got character and really came to life on Thursday’s class when we added the hair.

Here are some photos

What do you think? Aren’t they cool?

Wait til they have their bodies.

Please leave comments, I’m sure everyone would love to know what you think.

Hugglets preview

Well I think I am nearly ready for Hugglets. The bears, bunnies, hedgehogs and elephants are ready to go. My stall is planned, and lots of business cards printed. Very soon the bears will be added to my bears for adoption page so you can get more details. If any of you want a lovely day out on Sunday 8th September why not treat yourself to a day in London at Kensington Town Hall for the Hugglets Teddies 2013 festival. Come and meet the bears and have a hug. I will be in Hall 1, Stand 30. For more details pop along to the Hugglets website www.hugglets.co.uk

But here are some of the bears etc I will be taking with me

Another lovely needle felting class

We had another very successful needle felting class last night. Well done everyone! Sue has been working on her badger for the last couple of classes and he was finished last night. I’m sure you will all agree he looks fantastic. Needle felted badger

We also had a couple of polar bears, a bunny rabbit, a couple of owls, a hamster, a panda, Kelly is still working on her giraffe (he looks fab) I think he or maybe she will be finished next time, Lesley started making her first bear which showed off her sewing skills with the fantastic nose she gave him. So, it was a very good evening.

We have decided that we may now go on to bigger projects like my character doll George. I will show everyone the basic techniques and they will make what they like. Some of the projects coming up will be Dobby from Harry Potter, ET and Minnie Mouse. This is entirely optional though so anyone not wanting to do an ongoing project can still come and do smaller things.

I would love to know what you think, so please leave comments. Also please check out and like my facebook page. www.facebook.com/thethingaboutbears If you would like to book up for one of the classes, check out the classes page above for dates and details. The mohair/needle felted hedgehog class is now going to need two dates so I will update that as soon as possible.

Thanks for looking
